Youths’ woes in cinema

POKHARA, Dec 24: Hundreds of youths fly abroad, especially the Gulf countries, every year in search of better employment opportunities and many of them return in coffins. ‘Maan Ta Pardesi’ by Dev Nepal depicts this bitter reality of our country.

POKHARA, Dec 24: Hundreds of youths fly abroad, especially the Gulf countries, every year in search of better employment opportunities and many of them return in coffins. ‘Maan Ta Pardesi’ by Dev Nepal depicts this bitter reality of our country. 


The movie is set to release in more than 40 theaters across the country on December 25.  

As much as 20 percent of the movie was filmed in Qatar whereas the remaining shoot was carried out in Mahendranagar, Dhangadi and Kathmandu.

According to actor and assistant director of the film, Dipesh Pandey, the movie depicts the youths’ pain of being away from their homeland. The film also has romance and comedy to keep the audience entertained, said Pandey. 


Debutant actor Samita Giri is playing the lead role in the movie, which has already been premiered in Qatar. Giri said, “The movie shows the challenges that people from rural areas have to face when they enter into an urban settlement.”
