ITAHARI, July 12: A youth who was swept away by a flooded canal in Itahari on Thursday afternoon has gone missing as continuous rain for the past three days terrorizes settlements in various parts of the city.

ITAHARI, July 12: A youth who was swept away by a flooded canal in Itahari on Thursday afternoon has gone missing as continuous rain for the past three days terrorizes settlements in various parts of the city.

Sagar Thapa, 34, of Udayapur, a worker at an Itahari-based grille factory has gone missing in the swollen canal, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samir Chandra Kharel of the Area Police Office (APO), Itahari. DSP Kharel further added that police intensified search for Thapa immediately after receiving the information but were unable to find him till late evening.


The swollen Tengra River in front of the office of the Tax Office in Itahari-8 has entered various settlements affecting several lives. The river has also inundated sections of Koshi Highway, obstructing vehicular movement. Every year, the swollen Tengra River overflows and affects people living in various parts of Itahari. Especially wards 8, 9 and 10 of the Sub-metropolitan City have been affected the most.
