Youth dies after jumping of one-story rehabilitation center building

KATHMANDU, May 8: A young man has died after jumping off a one-story rehabilitation center building in Kailali. 

According to the District Police Office in Kailali, Sunil Shahi, 25, who was staying at the New Way Rehabilitation Center in GhodaGhodi Municipality-4, Bhaluphata, died after jumping off the building.

Shahi, who was staying at the rehab, jumped from the roof of the one-story building around 3:30 AM on Wednesday, as reported by DSP Kabindra Bohora of Kailali District Police Office.

Shahi sustained injuries from the fall and died while being taken to the hospital for treatment. He had injuries on his forehead, neck, waist, and both hands.

The police suspect that Shahi may have attempted to escape from the rehabilitation center by jumping off the building. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, said Kailali police.

Shahi’s family has requested a thorough investigation, expressing suspicion about the circumstances of his death.
