William Roarse and The Great Defeat is a novel written by eleven-years-old Sauryanshu Singh Chhetri who studies in grade five at Budhanilkantha School. This is the writer’s first attempt at publishing a book though he has been writing poems and stories. The book is an adventurous tale of wise boys, their battles of wit, knotty problems, love, passion and their ingenious solutions.

The young writer says that it’s his imagination and thoughts that inspire him to write. He believes that every mind is creative, and the book reflects his own imaginations and innovative thoughts. Through this book, he wants to share and invite all children into a delightful, imaginative and creative world which they haven’t experienced before.[break]

In the novel, William Roarse, the central character, goes on an adventure with his friends Gordon and James and they encounter a very different world, a world of good ghosts and bad ghosts, a world of spells and magical powers, of kings and castles, of battles and banshees; mazes and strange creature and of the heavens themselves.

Vivid imagination and creative and fast-paced progression of the story, as it moves towards the final battle, unravels a world which never ceases to surprise. In the story, the young writer has carefully planned to arouse the readers’ curiosity and ignite their imaginative queries in order to fulfill their expectations.

The sheer fantasy woven into each twist and turn of the story and the delightful little adventures in between make “William Roarse and The Great Defeat” a highly interesting children’s story.
