“We have never refused to participate in the polls. But there must be a favorable environment for our participation in the polls,” NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi quoted Yadav as telling NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Deuba had held meeting with MPRF-N Chairman Yadav Thursday afternoon. During an hour-long meeting held at the residence of Nidhi in Bhimsengola, Deuba urged Yadav to participate in the polls keeping in view the need for promulgating the new statute to ensure political stability in the country.
Yadav demanded dissolution of the High Level Political Committee, equal number of seats under the First-Past-the-Post and Proportional Representation Electoral systems, delineation of election constituencies on the basis of the latest census and resignation of Chief Justice Khil Regmi as the chairman of the Interim Election Council to create conducive environment for polls.
On the occasion, Deuba had told that the major parties, including NC were positive about all his demands, except the resignation of Regmi as the head of the government. “I will put forth your demands before my own party and in the High Level Political Committee. We are very positive about your demands,” Nidhi quoted Deuba as saying.
Deuba had held a meeting with CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya on Tuesday and Federal Socialist Party Chairman Ashok Rai on Wednesday in his attempt to bring the agitating parties on board the election process.
