In the writ, Tamang has argued that the Citizenship Act and the Citizenship Certificate Distribution Work Procedure Guidelines had discriminated between a Nepali woman and a Nepali man married to a foreign national, and thereby deprived her of a citizenship.[break]

Meanwhile, the apex court today quashed a writ filed by women child development teachers (facilitators) demanding an increment in their remuneration and facilities.
In the petition, Vice-president of Nepal Teachers´ Association, Indira Sapkota had demanded a mandamus order to increase the remuneration of the teachers to a minimum wage as per the Labour Act to Rs. 6,200.
The teachers are currently receiving a salary of Rs. 2,400. There is one women child development teacher in every 33,000 early childhood development centres across the country.
