KATHMANDU, Dec 21: World Meditation Day, declared by the United Nations, is being observed in Nepal today by various religious, spiritual, cultural, and social organizations.
On December 6, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly declared December 21 as World Meditation Day. On this occasion, a continuous 32-hour global meditation program is set to be organized worldwide.
The many kinds of meditation
The United Nations’ decision to recognize December 21 as World Meditation Day each year with historical significance has been welcomed by various organizations working in this field.
The Government of Nepal has also announced the celebration of Meditation Day today. On this occasion, various programs have been organized by organizations working in yoga, meditation, and other spiritual fields across the country. Deepak Prakash Baskota, Chairman of the Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation, informed that after the morning Rudrabhishek, a group meditation session will be held at 8:45 AM in the foundation's meditation centers, Global Mother Divine, and 90 Gurukuls operating across the country.
Similarly, organizations such as Jeevan Vigyan, Patanjali Institution, and Brahma Kumari Rajyoga Service Centers have announced that they will celebrate World Meditation Day by organizing various programs.
