The victim is identified as 22-year-old Sajara Khatun of Jatahara VDC-4.
According to Rampur Police Post, Khatun was beaten black and blue by her husband and in-laws reportedly after she disobeyed to cook puri (deep-fried bread) for dinner.
She breathed her last while her family members were preparing to take her to hospital for treatment. As soon as she died, her father-in-law Shesh Shamashul Hoda, mother-in-law and her husband Shesh Jamun Hoda sneaked to an Indian village near the Nepal-India border to escape arrest, DSP Sudhir Raj Shahi told Republica.
When the door of the house did not open till late this morning, the neighbors had informed the police of the same. When a police team came to the site and opened the door, Sajara Khatun found dead with numerous injuries to her bodies.
The body has been kept at District Hospital Gaur for postmortem.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits and investigating into the case.
