Around 30 people including local Dipa Dhamena and her relatives thrashed her on Tuesday. They also threatened her on Wednesday as well.[break]
Earlier they had misbehaved with her on Monday.
Local police had referred Pariyar to Women Rehabilitation Center (WOREC) sensing threat to her life in the village. The locals did not spare Bishnu Maya even at WOREC office.
The group led by Dipa himself barged into WOREC office at Hasanpur in Dhangadhi and thrashed Bishnu Maya in front of the WOREC officials. Dipa herself thrashed Bishnu Maya while police remained a mere spectator, according to WOREC’s Binu Rana.
“Janak Timilsina, Deepa’s husband Santosh Dhamena and a few other persons came to my house on Wednesday as well and warned me of expulsion from the village and feeding urine and stool,” the victim complained.
Santosh claimed that newly wed Dipa collapsed on the very evening of her wedding after seeing Pariyar because of the latter’s black magic.
Rights groups have been monitoring the case. A group of rights activists went to district police office today and demanded punishment to the guilty.
