KAILALI, August 12: Ramjanaki Chaudhary, 25, of Gapki, Lamki Chuha Municipality-8, is yet to recover from the injuries she received after she was beaten up by her neighbor Yam Bahadur Chaudhary some 40 days ago. Yam Bahadur Chaudhary beat up Chaudhary claiming that she had trespassed his part of the land while working in the paddy fields last month.

Her treatment was carried out at the Lamki-based Malika Hospital for some days - until the family could afford it. A few locals on Sunday took her to Seti Zonal Hospital for further treatment in Dhangadhi. Ramjanaki's husband Tirtha Chaudhary stated that Yam Bahadur, his mother and elder sister had beaten her up until she lost her consciousness.

Tirtha further informed Republica that their repeated complaints were not heard by the authorities. The police refused to file any complaint claiming that the injury was not visible as per the hospital record. “We could not file a case against the other party on the basis of one-sided complaints. As the injury was not noted in the patient's hospital record, we recommended them to seek assistance from the district court,” said Sub Inspector Janak Singh.

Tirtha's brother Hira Chaudhary stated that Ramjanaki was taken to Seti Zonal Hospital after their neighbors did not take the responsibility of her treatment expenses. “Although the injuries is not visible from outside, there could be inner injuries. My sister-in-law's faced physical and psychological trauma for which the culprits should be punished,” said Hira Chaudhary,
