“Our preliminary investigation shows that first the mother consumed poison and then she poisoned her sons,” said police inspector Babukaji Giri at the area police office, Lamahi. “Further investigation is ongoing,” Giri said adding that no reason is known yet as to why the woman took such an extreme step. Her husband Banarasi was out when the incident happened.
He found them all ill when he returned home late at night and subsequently informed the police about the incident. Police reached the site immediately but the three died while being rushed to Lamahi for medical treatment. Banarasi has told police that the couple did not have any family dispute in the past.
