HETAUDA, December 30: A 72-year-old woman, Kanchhi Maya Rumba, died in a tiger attack on Sunday in Manahari Rural Municipality, Makwanpur.
Rumba, the wife of Dhan Bahadur Rumba, was attacked while collecting grass near her home in Basantapur Gumbatol. Her body was found about 500 meters away from her house after she went missing. Police were notified at around 10 pm.
Human-Tiger Coexistence Amidst Rising Tiger Population
This is not the first wildlife attack in the area. Four months ago, a tiger was killed by a buffalo in Manahari. Locals have long requested protective measures such as fences, but the government authorities have not addressed the issue.
The area, bordering Chitwan and Parsa national parks, faces frequent wildlife attacks, including from elephants.
