Bir Kumari Duwadi, 29, a resident of Dhola VDC-2 of Dhading district, chopped off her three-month-old daughter Bim Kumari´s feet right below the ankles.
Bir Kumari, purportedly in a senseless state, put her newly born daughter´s feet on a wooden chopboard and cut off the feet Friday evening. [break]
The shocking incident came to light when Bir Kumari openly informed the locals that she cut off her own daughter´s feet. She also told the locals that she wanted to cook the cut off feet and eat them. The locals reached Bim Kumari´s house and realized that Bir Kumari was telling the truth. Then, they called up the police.
Bir Kumari and her infant daughter have been taken to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Kathmandu.
According to the locals, Bir Kumari had been mentally ill for the last seven days and was taking medicines. She had lost her senses even in the past. Once, she had even set her own village on fire.
