With 378 new cases in last 24 hours, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally climbs to 22,592

499 COVID-19 patients recovered on Saturday

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Saturday said 378 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were detected in the country in the last 24 hours, taking Nepal’s COVID-19 tally to 22,592. 

According to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the MoHP, 7,788 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests were conducted in the last 24 hours that confirmed 378 fresh cases across the country.

Similarly, as many as 499 people who had tested positive for the virus earlier recovered and returned home on Saturday. So far, 16,313 COVID-19 patients have recovered in Nepal.

As of Saturday afternoon, some 10,792 people are staying in various quarantine facilities and 6,206 active cases of COVID-19 are undergoing treatment at various isolation centers.

Similarly, the health ministry reported three more coronavirus-related deaths in Nepal, taking the national COVID-19 death tally to 73. 

Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 62 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
