WiMax Internet for home users from Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Mar 24: Nepal Telecom (NT) is introducing WiMax - a broadband Internet service - for home users from Wednesday.



The state-owned operator has tied up with two private firms - AirMax Technology and Unitech Network - to launch the service.[break]



Issuing a statement on Sunday, NT said the service will be provided through NT´s counters in Sundhara and Jawalakhel. Similarly, customers outside the Kathmandu Valley will get the service through NT´s office in respective districts.



AirMax and Unitech are preparing to open contact offices in Biratnagar, Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Dhangadhi and Mahendranagar, the statement said. They are also opening counters in Putalisadak, Durbarmarg, Kupandol and New Baneshwar.



NT has already introduced WiMax service in 49 districts of 13 zones, except Karnali zone, for institutional customers.



“Necessary equipment are being installed to expand WiMax service in remaining parts of the country within two months,” the statement added.
