Wild life smuggler sent to jail

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: A person convicted of smuggling red panda hide has been sent to jail on Thursday. 


Santosh Kumar Tamang from Shivapuri rural municipakity-6 of Nuwakot who was convicted of crime and absconding since then was arrested and sent to Sundhara jail. The Kathmandu District Court had issued the verdict after finding Tamang guilty of committing the crime of smuggling.

Information to this was shared by Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, adding that Tamang would be jailed for five years. Red panda is an endangered wild animal. 


Tamang was arrested from Nuwakot on Wednesday. He was founded with red panda hide during a security check in Manamaiju of Kathmandu a year back. 


Initially released on bail, he was later convicted of the crime.
