TAPLEJUNG, July 22: A woman has died after being physically assaulted by her husband in Taplejung. The 54-year-old Kanchimaya Limbu of Phungling Municipality-9, Hangdeva died as a result of the physical assault of her husband.

According to the District Police Office, Taplejung, the 56-year-old Bal Bahadur Sanwa Limbu beat up his wife Kanchimaya during a minor dispute. She reportedly died on the spot.

The police investigation showed that the wife died when she was hit by the Khurpa (i.e. knife). According to police, there is no other major injury on the outside of the body. 

Police said that further details can be obtained only after the autopsy. The body has been kept in the mortuary of the district hospital. The husband has been detained by the police and further investigation is currently underway.
