KATHMANDU, July 14: Chairman of the main opposition party CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal criticized the government for its inability to curb corruption during his address in Parliament on Monday.
Referring to past remarks made by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli about his willingness to "testify before Chitragupta" (the mythological god of justice), former Prime Minister Dahal questioned the Prime Minister’s accountability, claiming corruption has become synonymous with government institutions.
Reforming Anti-Corruption Legislations
“Wherever there is government, there is corruption,” he said.
He further said that controversies tend to follow the PM during his foreign visits, pointing out recent developments related to the Spain trip and recalling similar disputes from a previous visit to the United States.
Dahal questioned whether the government can still claim to uphold good governance when ministers continue to face repeated corruption allegations.
