Western Region accumulated 247 points in the tournament organized by National Sports Council under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Western Region claimed four silver medals and a bronze in athletics. [break]
Mid-western Region acquired 185 points to finish in the second position while Central Region remained in the third position with 167 points. Mid-west clinched six gold medals, nine silver and 10 bronze medals in athletics and claimed bronze in girls´ volleyball.
The top three regional teams received Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively while gold, silver and bronze medalists of the tournament received Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000, respectively.
Athletics
Krishna Chaudhary of Western Region claimed her third gold of the tournament Friday after crossing 4.77 m in girls´ long jump. She had won gold medals in 100 m and 200 m sprints.
Ashish Chaudhary of Mid-western Region clinched gold in the boys´ long jump after crossing 6.03 m. He claimed gold in 100 m sprint as well. He clocked 11.30 seconds to win the gold.
In 800 m race, Pratima Subedi of Western Region clocked 2 minutes 38.9 seconds and her teammate Binod Gurung completed it in 2 minute 5.1 seconds to win their golds in women´s and men´s category respectively. Kusum Rana and Anju Kumari Dagaura of Western Region won gold medals in boys´ and girls´ shot-put event respectively.
Western Region clinched 4X400 m relay in boys´ section while Mid-west won the event in girls´ section.
Volleyball
Western Region defeated Central Region 25-21, 25-19, 16-25, 18-25, 15-12 in the final of boys´ volleyball to clinch gold while Eastern Region edged past Far-western Region in the third place play-off.
In the girls´ volleyball final, Central Region beat Western Region 25-18, 25-10, 25-17 at the NSC Covered Hall. Mid-western Region defeated Far-western Region in the third place play-off.
