The pro-am event will be played on Saturday. The 12th edition of this event is organized by Nepal Professional Golfers Association and sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd.[break]
The first three days will feature top professional golfers vying for the championship to be played over 54 holes. And the last day will see amateur golfers teaming up with the pros for the Pro-Am event.
All the professional and top amateur golfers across the nation have already arrived Pokhara and to get acclimatized with the playing conditions of the adventurous golf course. The pros along with few amateurs also had a round of golf to hone their skills for the main event.
The course set in the backdrops of magnificent mount Machhapuchre and rested in the ravine alongside Bijayapur river is certainly going to test the skills of all the top notch golfers.
The prize purse for the event has been raised this year to Rs 425,000 and winner will receive a check of Rs. 90,000, and runner up Rs 57000, the second runner up will get Rs 45,000. Others in the top 18 will also be awarded with cash prizes.
Defending champion Sanjay Lama will be joined by Nepal number 1 Shiva Ram Shrestha, winner of the last event Dhana Thapa, Deepak Thapa Magar, Sabin Sapkota and American professional Stan Witco.
In the Amateur section, Tashi Tsering will face challenge from Wangchen Dhondup, Dinesh Prajapati, along with top amateurs from Pokhara -- Madan Gurung and Maj LP Gurung. A total of 48 players - 28 pros and 20 amateurs will take part in the main event and 60 players will be in for the Pro-Am.
Himalayan Golf course has been tweaked to its best standard and awaiting to punish the best players of the game in Nepal. This course is considered the toughest in Nepal with the challenges of up and down hill terrain.
