KATHMANDU, April 21: The District Administration Office (DAO), Banke, has decided to enforce a week-long lockdown in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City of the district starting mid-night today.
A meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (DCCMC) held on Monday recommended to the DAO to enforce a week-long lockdown in the sub-metropolis.
Weeklong lockdown in three wards of Sindhuli district
The market will be allowed to remain open from 6 AM to 9 AM for buying the essentials. Likewise, only the vehicles used for emergency services will be allowed to ply the roads during this period. The general public has been barred from venturing outside unless ‘very necessary’.
The government will take action against those found defying the lockdown orders as per the Infectious Disease Act, 2020, according to DAO, Banke.
The Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis alone has recorded as many as 735 active cases so far. Hospitals have been overwhelmed with patients due to the daily rise in the number of COVID-19 patients.
