KATHMANDU, Aug 8: The country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), the monsoon trough is situated near its normal position.
Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati Provinces as well as Himalayan and hilly regions throughout the country will experience generally cloudy weather, while the Tarai region will remain partly cloudy to mainly fair weather.
Light rainfall along with thunder is taking place at some places in Bagmati Province and one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh and Lumbini Provinces are witnessing light rainfall.
Heavy rainfall forecast in Bagmati, several provinces
According to the MFD, generally cloudy weather will remain across the country this afternoon. Moderate rainfall as well as snowfall has been forecast at some places of the Himalayan region in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
Moderate rainfall is likely at many hilly places in Koshi and Bagmati Provinces as well as some hilly areas in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
There is also a possibility of moderate rain at some places in the Tarai region. One or two places of Himalayan and hilly regions in Koshi and Bagmati Provinces will witness heavy rainfall, added the MFD.
Similarly, the country will experience generally cloudy weather tonight while there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall at some places of Himalayan and hilly regions.
Moderate rainfall is likely at some Tarai areas in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Madhes and Sudurpaschim Provinces while heavy rainfall has been forecast at one or two places of hilly region in Karnali Province.
The MFD has also urged everyone to remain cautious in the areas where there is a possibility of rainfall, as it could cause flash floods, floods, landslides and soil erosion.
