BIRATNAGAR, July 5: Police held five persons of Morang and Sunsari for their allegedly involvement in the illegal trade of weapons.

Those arrested are Jeevan Bista of Biratnagar-15, Indian national Pappu Patel currently residing in Biratnagar-21, Dilip Chaudhary of Mahendranagar-7, Sunsari, Mahesh Khadka of Itahari-4 and Bibek Kharel of Biratnagar-15.

Evidences suggest that the arrested had imported weapons to Nepal through Indian national Patel, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Morang, Rebati Dhakal.

Police recovered a hand-made pistol and its bullets from Patel.

The pistol sold off by Patel was found used in firing at the rented house of trader Giridhari Nagori in Biratnagar last January, police said.

Donation was demanded from trader Nagori via phone and shots were fired to frighten him.

No human casualties were reported in the firing, police added.
