KATHMANDU, April 5: Recently, there has been a rise in instances of misconduct within Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), prompting the management to make a commitment to take action against those responsible. Additionally, Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati has already conveyed his dissatisfaction over the conduct of NAC.

NAC Spokesperson Ramesh Paudel issued a statement on Wednesday and said, “From now on, the concerned employees have been warned not to repeat such incidents. The reasons obtained from the investigation will be analyzed and corrective measures will be enforced and those who make mistakes will be punished.”

Recently, the NAC had to resort to conducting chartered flights because it couldn’t get its flight permit renewed on time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. However, now the corporation has received permission for regular flights. Admitting that the operation department and Malaysia Station had shown shortcomings in this regard, the corporation has said that action has been taken against the officials concerned.

According to the NAC, the director of the operations department has been asked to furnish an explanation regarding the 11-hour delay of the Kathmandu-Dubai flight after the pilot fell ill. Moreover, the executive chairman of the corporation has also been prosecuted for not obeying the rules of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

Minister Kirati said, “The recent rise in malpractices in the corporation and other developments have not made me sad, but have inspired me to be more responsible and more sensitive to the problem.”
