KHOTANG, April 10: After assuming the office of ward chief, signing recommendations for citizenship, passport, and migration among other things as well as listening to public grievances is the routine job of a ward chief. But the responsibilities of Bikash Rai, the ward chief of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-12, are not limited to this.

He also teaches master's students of sociology at the Diktel Multiple Campus. The campus had started the master's course in sociology from this year. As there is shortage of university teachers in the district, the campus requested Rai to teach the master's students as guest lecturer.
 
Professor Dev Kumar Rai and Pabitra Rai also teach sociology to master's students so the campus decided to appoint ward chief Rai as guest lecturer. He has been asked to take classes on Saturdays and other public holidays.
 
In 2009, Rai had studied at Cornell University, USA under the Hubert Humphrey fellowship program.
