KATHMANDU, Dec 23: The Chairperson of Chandragiri Municipality-12, Nhuchhe Bahadur Maharjan, has been arrested by the police on charges of cooperative fraud.

He is accused of embezzling funds from the Hariyali Saving and Credit Cooperative in Thamel. SSP Basanta Rajaure of the District Police Range, Kathmandu said that a team from the Sorakhutte police circle took him under their charge. Maharjan is the treasurer of this cooperative.
