Supreme Court had charged Wagle one-and-a-half jail term and penalty of Rs 20.3 million in February, 2011. [break]
Wagle surrendered himself before the court after being convicted. His penalty was reduced by 20 percent. As per legal provisions, if a convict surrenders to the authority within 60 days of the court verdict, he is entitled to a 20 percent cutback on the jail term and penalty.
Wagle had become the first former minister to be sent to jail after being convicted of graft in February, 2011.
