Voter turnout estimated to be only 70 percent: Election observers

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Election observers have said that the voters did not show much enthusiasm in this election.

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Election observers have said that the voters did not show much enthusiasm in this election.


They have said that during the election observation from 7 AM on Sunday morning, they found that most of the polling stations in the Kathmandu Valley did not see the presence of enthusiastic voters.

They said that compared to the previous elections, fewer voters came out to vote this time.


Speaking at a press conference held by the General Election Observation Committee, Nepal (GEOC) on Sunday afternoon, former Chief Election Commissioner Nilakantha Upreti said that although the election went on peacefully, the turnout of voters was low. He said that the turnout of the voters was not very encouraging.
