KAVREPALANCHOWK, July 20: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Banskota, has said violence is never acceptable in the country where Gautam Buddha was born.

In his address to the 40th General Assembly of Kavrepalanchowk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said, "Violence is never entertained in the Buddha's land." Whoever committed it would face its consequence in the end, he claimed.

 The Minister was of the view that 'wild rule' meant for terrorizing the people by staying in hideouts would have no space in the present situation. "This is an era of democracy, and thoughts and discussions matter in such system." Every eligible citizen has the opportunity to reach the post of president in open politics, he said. He described activities meant for terrorizing people, promoting violence, giving trouble to schools and industries and collecting forced donation would be proved harmful for the nation. "It is wrong to believe the government will surrender to violence," he stressed, adding that the government would resist all challenges.

Minister Banskota went on to say that any effort aimed to push the country towards instability would not be tolerated. He took time to call upon the business community not to come to the street in protest if they received any sort of threat, assuring of finding a solution to through discussions.

 On a different note, he said foreign assistance would be invested in technology for the nation-building efforts. On the occasion, the Minister was honored with a felicitation letter. (photo available)
