Vice president sees need of systematizing transport sector

HETAUDA, Jan 10: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has underlined the need of systematizing the transport sector as per the need of time with the use of developed technology. 

Inaugurating the 31st annual general assembly of Narayani Transport Entrepreneurs’ Association in Hetauda today, he said, "There is a need of policy-level reforms to systematize transport sector.” 

Stating the transport sector had the 10 per cent contribution to the nation’s revenue, he said all remote districts should have an access to transport facilities. 

House of Representatives member Krishna Prasad Dahal and State Assembly members Indra Bahadur Baniya and Prem Bahadur Pulami drew the attention of transport entrepreneurs and the state to minimize road accidents. 

Association chair Badri Prasad Chaulagain said private sector was taking a lead in the operation of transport services in remote areas of the country. 

He demanded the policy-level reforms from the state level to make transport systematic and safe, and a separate ministry to deal with transport issues. On the occasion, the Vice President launched the Association's special souvenir publication. RSS
