Putting forth his view in verbal form, leader Shrestha stressed on the launching of discussions on the issues of national independence to correct ‘past mistakes’.[break]
Stating that the controversial BIPPA agreement with India is also an issue of national independence, he said that the ongoing general convention should forge a clear stance on the bilateral trade agreement.
Talking to journalists, Shrestha also said he would put forth his dissent in written form if the party leadership fails to assure him that the issues of national sovereignty, including the BIPPA and disputes surrounding the Nepal-India border, will be discussed calling a plenum within six months.
During his address to the closed session, Shrestha, however, said that he is ready to abide by the party chairman’s document on the issue. Shrestha also expressed his commitment to the principles of Maoism.
Meanwhile, group discussions over party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s political document are underway. The group leaders are set to air their concluding remarks today itself. Altogether 63 groups have been formed to hold deliberation on Dahal’s document.
