Vehicles carrying river products during monsoon recommended for action

POKHARA, July 22: A recommendation has been made to take action against vehicles engaged in mining and transporting river products during the prohibited period. The committee overseeing the excavation, collection, and sale of riverine and mineral products in Kaski district has proposed action against 12 vehicles for illegal activities, in accordance with Section 3 (b) of the 2077 standards related to stone, gravel, and sand extraction, sale, and management.

The vehicles recommended for action include 11 tippers and one tractor. Liladhar Paudel, the coordinator of the committee and head of the District Coordination Committee, Kaski, informed Republica that a formal request will be sent to Pokhara Metropolitan City to enforce action against the vehicles operating during the restricted time.

According to regulations, excavation and transportation of river and mining materials are prohibited during the rainy season, which spans June, July, and August.

The vehicles in question are tipper trucks numbered Ga 1 Ka 1515, Ga 1 Ka 6214, Ba 4 Kha 3321, Ga 2 Kha 145, Ga 1 Ka 2402, Ga 2 Kha 328, Ga 2 Kha 1156, Ga 1 Ka 6392, Ga 1 Ka 5113, Ga 1 Ka 7990, and the tractor numbered Ga 1 Ta 7012. These vehicles have been flagged for unauthorized excavation and transportation.

On June 30, these vehicles were seized by a joint team from the District Police Office Kaski and Ward Police Office while loading river products at Daskhet Ghat, Pokhara Metropolitan City-19.

The seized vehicles have been handed over to the District Monitoring Committee for further investigation and action.
