KATHMANDU, May 20: US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights Urza Zeya has arrived in Kathmandu on a three-day visit to Nepal.
Officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry had welcomed Zeya, who is also US Special Coordinator for Tibetan issues, at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday afternoon. She arrived in Kathmandu from India, where she held a meeting with exiled Tibetan Guru Dalai Lama in Dharamshala.
US Under Secretary Zeya meets Foreign Minister Khadka
Under Secretary Zeya, who is leading a four-member delegation, is scheduled to interact with Tibetan refugees living in Kathmandu on Saturday and learn the problems they are facing now. She is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka on Sunday.
Taking to her twitter, Under Secretary Zeya said that she is excited to be in Nepal with the USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator Anjali Kaur to discuss the strong partnership between Nepal and US in advancing democracy and human rights for all.
