KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Visiting US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Patrick Moon on Monday assured the Unified CPN (Maoist) that the US government will consider removing the party from the list of terrorist organizations.

“He (Moon) told us that the US government would consider changing their policy towards us, removing us from the list and behave with us as a political party,” Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the party’s foreign relations department chief, said after Moon met with Maoist chairman Pushpa Kaman Dahal on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Moon said that he talked about peace process and other current issues with the Maoist chairman. “I am impressed by the commitment shown by the chairman,” he told journalists after the meeting.
