US dollar keeps on rising, mixed trends for other currencies

The value of the US dollar, which has been steadily increasing, has risen again today, as per the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) statement.

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: The value of the US dollar, which has been steadily increasing, has risen again today, as per the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) statement.


Similarly, the value of Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, UAE dirham, Kuwaiti dinar, Bahraini dinar, and Omani rial have also appreciated.


However, the values of the European euro, UK pound sterling, Swiss franc, Singapore dollar, Chinese yuan, Thai baht, Malaysian ringgit, South Korean won, Swedish krona, and Danish kroner have decreased. Some currencies have remained stable.


According to the exchange rates published by the central bank, the buying rate for one US dollar is Rs 136.94, and the selling rate is Rs 137.54. One euro is priced at a buying rate of Rs 141.02 and a selling rate of Rs 141.64. Similarly, the buying and selling rates for one UK pound sterling are Rs 170.00 and Rs 170.74, respectively. The Swiss franc stands at Rs 150.67 for buying and Rs 151.33 for selling.

The buying rate for one Australian dollar is Rs 85.21, and the selling rate is Rs 85.58. The Canadian dollar is priced at Rs 95.11 for buying and Rs 95.52 for selling. The Singapore dollar’s buying and selling rates are Rs 99.96 and Rs 100.40, respectively.


For 10 Japanese yen, the buying rate is Rs 8.71, and the selling rate is Rs 8.75. The Chinese yuan is priced at Rs 18.71 for buying and Rs 18.79 for selling. Similarly, one Saudi Arabian riyal is at Rs 36.46 for buying and Rs 36.62 for selling, while one Qatari riyal is priced at Rs 37.56 and Rs 37.73 for buying and selling, respectively.


The Thai baht has a buying rate of Rs 3.98 and a selling rate of Rs 4.00. The UAE dirham is priced at Rs 37.28 for buying and Rs 37.45 for selling. The Malaysian ringgit’s buying and selling rates are Rs 30.43 and Rs 30.56, respectively.


For 100 South Korean won, the buying rate is Rs 9.32, and the selling rate is Rs 9.36. The Swedish kroner has a buying rate of Rs 12.32 and a selling rate of Rs 12.37. Similarly, the Danish kroner is priced at Rs 18.90 for buying and Rs 18.99 for selling.


The Hong Kong dollar’s buying and selling rates are Rs 17.60 and Rs 17.68, respectively. One Kuwaiti dinar is priced at Rs 443.80 for buying and Rs 445.75 for selling. The Bahraini dinar has a buying rate of Rs 363.25 and a selling rate of Rs 364.84, while the Omani rial stands at Rs 355.68 for buying and Rs 357.24 for selling.


Additionally, 100 Indian rupees have a buying rate of Rs 160.00 and a selling rate of Rs 160.15.


The central bank has stated that these exchange rates may be revised at any time as necessary. It also noted that the exchange rates determined by commercial banks may vary and that updated rates are available on the NRB's official website.
