KATHMANDU, Nov 12: The US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu is visiting Nepal later this week.
According to a press statement issued by the US Department of State, Assistant Secretary of State Lu will arrive in Kathmandu on November 17. He is scheduled to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and other senior government leaders.
The visit of Lu comes at a time when Nepal has failed to endorse the MCC Compact Agreement through parliament. Earlier, MCC Headquarters had expressed serious concern over the government decision to abruptly prorogue parliament sessions.
Prior to his visit to Nepal, Assistant Secretary of State Lu will travel to Maldives. He will fly to Kathmandu after a two-day stay in Male—the capital city of Maldives.
