US Assistant Secretary for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs urges Nepal to be positive towards Indo Pacific Strategy

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Visiting US Assistant Secretary for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, Randall G. Schriver, today called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokhrel, urging later to be positive towards the 'Indo Pacific Strategy'.

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Visiting US Assistant Secretary for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, Randall G. Schriver, today called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokhrel, urging later to be positive towards the ' Indo Pacific Strategy'.


On the occasion, the US Assistant Secretary urged the DPM to understand the Strategy as the US policy of cooperation. In response the Deputy Prime Minister said they were positive about it.

He stressed the need of further expanding the Nepal-US friendly relations based on sovereignty and independence. He also requested for increasing the US human assistance and assistance in disaster management for the NA, as informed by the Ministry Under-Secretary Muktiram Aryal.


Similarly, matters relating to the US 'State Partnership Programme', joint military exercise and increase in the US cooperation in defence and security were discussed during the meeting.


Nepal's Ambassador for the US, Dr Arjun Karki, the US Ambassador for Nepal and officials at the Ministry of Defence and Foreign Ministry were present on the occasion.
