US Assistant Secretary Lu pays courtesy call on FinMin Paudel

Discussions were focused on issues such as financial assistance, effective implementation of projects under MCC and USAID, development finance, investment in the private sector.

KATHMANDU, Dec 9: US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, has paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel on Monday.


In the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance on Monday, discussions were focused on issues such as financial assistance, effective implementation of projects under MCC and USAID, development finance, investment in the private sector, as stated by the ministry.

Stating that political stability is maintained in Nepal, Finance Minister Paudel urged for further expansion of US assistance to Nepal.


Lu expressed his happiness over Nepal’s success in maintaining economic growth and stability, while mentioning that some countries in South Asia are facing economic challenges. Earlier, Lu also had a meeting with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
