According to Madan Giri, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Palpa District Police Office, Palpa, a one-way movement along the roadway came into operation after 5 pm today. “If the weather remains stable, the whole of the debris will be cleared and two-way movement will be possible,” Giri added.

A truck with a number plate Lu 1 Ka 1175 which was stuck due to landslides a few days ago — was also buried under the debris following landslides. A huge amount of boulders kept falling from the hill adjacent to the road since Thursday causing the road blockade. However, no human casualty was reported in the incident.

Hundreds of passengers who were left stranded along the highway have now headed for their destinations. Palpa Traffic Police, however, urged the commuters to be cautious while crossing the road
