The government had requested UNMIN to provide the details of the Maoist combatants following a direction from the Special Committee for the Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants.
The UCPN (Maoist) had on September 13 agreed with the government to share the details of 19,602 combatants with the latter.
Shortly after it received the combatants´ details from UNMIN, the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction forwarded the record to the Special Committee, according to Joint Secretary Nepal.
UNMIN had collected the data as part of its activities related to the monitoring of the management of arms and armies.
Upon sharing the details, the UN political mission, which is due to leave Nepal on January 15 next year, has urged parties to maintain momentum and find a way forward on the issue of integration and rehabilitation, which is at the center of the ongoing peace process.
