“I also heard about the government´s ban on network marketing including Unity from the media. Hence, I cannot take any decision on the fate of the hospital without any orders from the higher ups as hospitals are directly associated with human health,” Koirala told myrepublica.com on Monday.
The hospital has continued its service despite confusion about its fate and sharp decline in the number of patients visiting it.
Employees including doctors are in mood to continue the service even by dissociating it with ULI. “We are in favor of continuing the operation of the hospital as it is directly related to human life and health,” said Janardan Subedi, account officer of the hospital.
Employees and doctors of the hospital had held an informal meeting on Monday to decide on the fate of the 101-bed hospital which has over 100 staffs including 14 doctors.
ULI had obtained temporary permission from the government last year to operate the hospital in Pokhara. The hospital has been found to have been registered in the name of ULI´s chairman Kashi Gurung. The hospital has already suffered a loss of over Rs 10 million over the five months since its commencement.
