KATHMANDU, May 22: A group of unidentified individuals smeared black soot on Ram Bichari Thakur, the chief of the Division Forest Office in Kanchanpur. A video of Thakur being smeared with black soot and subjected to mistreatment has gone viral on social media.
The incident occurred around 12 noon on Thursday, as said by Laxman Dhakal, the Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur. “He has been mistreated. According to what he told me, a group of three individuals threw a substance containing black paint on him,” he said. “We also saw it in the video. From that, it's not possible to identify who they are. We'll check the CCTV footage, if available, and an investigation will be set into motion.”

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the incident. However, the video has been made public through the Facebook page of the Communist Youth Association of Nepal. This group is affiliated with the CPN (Maoist Centre) led by Dharmendra Bastola.
