Unidentified disease takes 13 lives in Gorkha

POKHARA, May 7: An unidentified disease in remote Gumda VDC in Gorkha district has taken lives of 13 people, including four children, in the past two weeks.



Locals said the patients had headache, fever and fainted frequently.



Three members of a single family – Dambar Maila, his wife Rati Gurung and their son Saila Gurung -- died on Wednesday suffering from the same disease. People in the villages are suffering from the disease for the past two weeks.



Other deceased are Kisman Gurung, Samali Gurung, Saila Gurung, Kanchha Gurung, Kisanman Gurung, Tikan Gurung, Karina Gurung, Manoj Gurung, Sharmila Gurung and Tul Bahadur Gurung.



Additional 35 locals are suffering from the disease, according to District Public Health officer Dr Guna Raj Lohani. Medical teams Wednesday left for the village, according to local officials.
