UDAYAPUR, Sept 14: A body of an unclaimed child has been found near the district headquarters Gaighat on Thursday morning.


 “An unclaimed body of a child has been found inside the bush on the bank of a rivulet in Triyuga Municipality-4, said District Police Office.”

District Police Office, Gaighat, found a body of a baby boy inside the bush on the bank of a rivulet, Police Inspector Debi Prasad Fago told Republica Online.


According to him the body of about five to six months was apparenlty discarded few days back as it was beginning to decompose.


A preliminary investigation carried out by the police shows that the child might have been aborted after being conceived through illicit sexual relationship, said Fago.


Police have handed over the body to the district hospital for postmortem following a site report.


Police said they are carrying out further investigation into the case.
