KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said her government will take the toughest possible measures against corruption, declaring that her government will not back down even in the face of threats.

Speaking on the occasion of the 22nd International Anti-Corruption Day, PM Karki stressed that the current administration is not merely an election-time government but one formed on the foundation of the Gen Z movement’s demand for accountability and good governance.

“The government is working at full pace—not only on routine affairs but also to advance good governance. It may take time to achieve the transformative results the Gen Z movement expects, but we will not hesitate to take the harshest actions necessary against corruption. State mechanisms have already been activated for this,” she said.

Karki also noted that certain elements have tried to intimidate the government, directly or indirectly, as anti-corruption measures tighten. “We are not afraid,” she asserted.

She urged officials and public servants to remain steadfast, exercise their professional independence without fear, and carry forward their duties with confidence.
