The player of the match Sita Rana Magar smashed 49 off 55 balls for APF, which garnered 121 runs losing only 4 wickets.[break]
Rubina Chhetri was unbeaten for 26 runs and Sarita Magar (16) was the other player to contribute double digit figure for the departmental team, which is competing in the women´s national cricket for the first time.
In its run chase, Janakpur was bowled out for just 57 runs as Binu Buda Magar claimed three scalps and Sarita Magar two. Mamta Chaudhary (17) and Shova Ale (15) were the only batswomen to collect two digit figures for Janakpur.
Region No 6 (Baitadi), Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) and Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) also won their respective group matches on Saturday.
Baitadi inched closer to the semifinal from group A as it pulled second consecutive victory from as many matches played. Baitadi registered a comfortable five wicket win over Region No 3 (Kathmandu) to hand its first defeat.
With three wickets from Roshani Bohara and two wickets each from Rekha Rawal and Chetana Bohara, Baitadi bundled out Kathmandu for a low total of 43 runs in 19.1 over. Baitadi surpassed the target in 13.3 overs losing five wickets.
Sangeeta Gauchan (6) was the highest scorer for Kathmandu that got extra 15 runs. Roshani Bohara scored 20 off 25 for Baitadi to pave the way for victory. Roshani Bohara was declared the player of the match.
Bhairahawa achieved its first win from group A defeating Region No 2 (Birgunj) by seven wickets. Birgunj that elected to bat first was all out for 81 runs in 18.4 overs. Skipper Manisha Chaulagain top scored with 17 runs for Birgunj that got 37 runs in extras.
Skipper Indu Berma, Pooja Bhandari, Sudha Thapa and Soniya Bhandari of Bhairahawa shared two wickets each. Berma, declared the player of the match, was unbeaten on 20 runs for the winning team which made 82 in 12.3 overs. Saraswati Pun (19) was the second highest scorer for Bhairahawa that got 31 extra runs.
In group B match, Nepalgunj thumped Region No 8 (Pokhara) by 87 runs. It was Pokhara´s third defeat from as many matches played. Batting first, Nepalgunj made 130/3 and bowled out Pokhara for 43/8. Nepalgunj´s total was built on 37 runs of Manisha Rawal and 36 runs of Sanju Chaudhary. Trishna Singh was unbeaten for 15 runs and Geeta Gosai (13) was the other player to contribute double figure. Besides this, Nepalgunj got extra 27 runs.
In Pokhara´s run chase, Sushila Gurung (11) was the only batswomen to reach double figure. Trishna Singh pocketed three wickets of Pokhara and Rekha BC took two. Trishna Singh was declared the player of the match.
