UN Under Secretary General in Lumbini visit

LUMBINI, June 30: Visiting UN Under-Secretary General for Peace Operation, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, visited the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini on Thursday.


Under Secretary General Lacroix was received by Vice Chairperson of Lumbini Development Trust, Vikshu Maittya (Abadhes Kumar Tripathi), Treasurer Siddhi Charan Bhattarai, member secretary Sanu Raja Shakya. Vice Chairman Mittya briefed the Under Secretary General on Lumbini.

The Under Secretary General expressed happiness over the opportunity he got to visit the birthplace of Lord Buddha. He said that the UN was collaborating for the development of Lumbini, and will continue to do so in the days ahead.


He visited Maya Devi Temple, Peace Lamp, and Thai, Cambodian, French and Vietnamese monasteries.


Lacroix is on a four-day visit to Nepal.
