KATHMANDU, Oct 20: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is scheduled to arrive in Nepal on October 29. His visit was earlier postponed due to the attack on Israel launched by Hamas on October 7.
A cabinet meeting held on Thursday approved the official visit of United Nations Secretary General Guterres to Nepal from October 29 to November 1.

During his stay in Nepal, he is scheduled to address the joint meeting of both the houses of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers sent a letter to the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament on October 19, informing them that the UN Secretary General Guterres will address the parliament on October 31 at 4:00 PM.
Ekram Giri, joint secretary and spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, said that a letter has been received from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers requesting United Nations Secretary General Guterres to address the joint meeting of both the houses of the Federal Parliament.
Giri also said that the secretariat has started internal preparations for the speech of the Secretary General Guterres. Special government officials including heads of constitutional bodies, heads of diplomatic missions in Nepal will be invited to the meeting addressed by Secretary General Guterres.
