UML's Bista wins at Naraharinath

KALIKOT, May 24: CPN-UML candidate Dheer Bahadur Bista has been elected chairman of Naraharinath Rural Municipality in Kalikot.

KALIKOT, May 24: CPN-UML candidate Dheer Bahadur Bista has been elected chairman of Naraharinath Rural Municipality in Kalikot.


Bista garnered 2460 votes while his nearest rival Nepali Congress candidate Min Bahadur Bogati received 2228 votes. Agra Bahadur Bista of CPN (Maoist Center) got 2137 votes in the rural municipality.

However, Manshova Budha of Maoist Center won the election for vice-chairperson. Budha received 2249 votes while Nepali Congress candidate Sushila Shahi remained just five votes behind Budha. Shahi got 2244 votes while UML candidate Sunita Budha received 2068 votes.


Voting was conducted again on Sunday in Serapata of Naraharinath as a ward chairman candidate died when the voting was going on May 14. RPP candidate for ward chairman in Naraharinath-6 Dhanarup Batala had died from police bullet when the security forces opened fire to disperse the cadres of Netra Bikram Chand led Communist Party of Nepal from the polling station as they tried to obstruct the election.


Among the 9 wards in the rural municipality, UML has won four wards while Maoist Center won 3 and NC won 2.
