SURKHET, Aug 31: Secretary of the CPN-UML Yuvaraj Gyawali on Monday said that the UML was facing serious problem due to utter violation of discipline by its members. [break]
He said the party´s commission on disciplinary matters is monitoring activities that are against the party´s discipline in the recent days. "The Kathmandu District Committee (KDC) violated the discipline by defying the party decision to reconstitute it while all the district committees across the country are reconstituted as per the decision of the general convention held in February," he said at a press meet in Surkhet.
The UML´s KDC and newly formed Kathmandu District Organization Committee (KDOC) organized parallel district level gatherings in Kathmandu a few days ago. Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal addressed the KDOC gathering while senior UML leader KP Oli addressed similar gathering organized by KDC. The party establishment had earlier decided to dissolve the KDC but the chapter continued its activities by defying the decision.
While addressing the KDOC meet, Khanal and some other top UML leaders threatened to take action against KP Oli and the camp for criticizing the party chairman through media.
But Oli and other leaders close to him challenged the leadership to take action against them. The Oli faction has a stronghold in KDC while Khanal enjoys majority in KDOC.

Stating that the Supreme Court´s verdict should be acceptable to all, Khanal said it is “unfortunate” that Jha decided not to abide by the court´s decision.
